Cabinet Painting in Cambridge, MA

Cambridge kitchens run from small condo galleys to older homes with original built-ins and butler’s pantries. Painting is a way to bring them up to date without tearing out good woodwork.

How we approach it in Cambridge

  • Built-in cabinets and pantries are painted in place with the same degrease, sand and prime process as kitchen doors.
  • In condo buildings, we plan where doors are prepped and finished so common areas stay clear.
  • Wood grain can be filled for a smooth, modern look, or left with texture. Your call.

The houses here

Cambridge’s housing ranges from 19th-century Victorians and Second Empire houses with mansard roofs to modest worker cottages, two-families and triple-deckers, plus brick apartment buildings and newer condos. A large share of homes are rentals or condo units, so scheduling often involves owners and tenants.

Cabinet Painting in Cambridge: questions

Can you paint original built-in cabinets?

Yes. Built-ins can’t come out, so we protect the area around them carefully and finish them in place.

Will the wood grain show through the paint?

On open-grain woods like oak, yes, unless the grain is filled first. We’ll show you the difference and price both options.

Can I use my kitchen during cabinet painting?

Partly. The work area is covered and you’ll lose access to cabinets for a few days. We’ll plan with you so you can keep using the fridge and a part of the counter where possible.
